Durga Maa is the epitome of a true womanhood. She is the Mother of the entire Universe as she takes care of the created universe and protects all beings. When she finds these beings full of ignorance, she removes the veil of ignorance and uplifts her children from all miseries. Durga Maa is the nurturer, caregiver, protector and when necessary, the destroyer. She loves as fiercely as she hates. Durga Maa is the truest manifestation of Shakti and the core essence of the whole cosmos at its roots.
Durga Maa is the reigning Goddess in Hinduism. Appeasing her helps seek protection from all evils and negativity. Offering special prayers to Durga Maa during Navratri is considered highly auspicious too. In fact, Durga Maa assumes nine forms: Shilaputri, Brahmacharni, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. These nine forms manifested for different reasons that are connected to the maintenance of the universe which is why these forms are worshipped during the nine days of Navratri.
